Who we are
Northern Kentucky University is located on 400 rolling acres offering views of both the lush Kentucky hillside and the downtown Cincinnati skyline. Its modern buildings are clustered in a pedestrian-friendly arrangement that fosters a community atmosphere among students, faculty and staff. We take great pride in the campus up close and personal lifestyle.
The newly renovated lake area, Loch Norse and Loch Norse Arboretum, are a must-see destination for campus visitors. Framed by earthen swells, wide sidewalks, trees and an iconic bridge above the lake's waterfall, Loch Norse is truly the most memorable place on campus.
Our new Student Union houses a food courts, a 600-seat ballroom and meeting rooms, multi-purpose activity areas (with X-Box, pool, hang-out and study spaces), and a plaza-level Starbucks.
The new Bank of Kentucky Center has a 9,200-seat capacity for basketball and 10,000 seats for concerts and other events. The BOK, as it is known on campus, will be a major destination for campus events!
We are also working to release funding for a new residence hall, located in the former Lakeside Nursing Home adjacent to campus, will house 443 students, raising NKU's campus housing capacity to 1,836 beds.
Technology-wise, the entire campus offers wireless access, both inside and out, and all classrooms are equipped with "smart" technology.
The University plans to construct a $35 million building for our new College of Informatics, and is seeking funding for a Health Innovations Center, a new home for the College of Business, several new parking garages, additional residence halls and several other significant renovations.
