Institutional Scholarships and Awards for Freshmen
For all scholarships with the "Contact" of Office of Student Financial Assistance, you just need to complete one application in order to apply. If the "Contact" is a different location, you will need to contact that location to inquire about applying for the scholarship
Achiever's Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be admitted to NKU as a first-time freshman; must have ACT composite score of 23 or higher or SAT of 1060 or higher and must have maintained at least a "B" average in high school.
Amount: Varies.
Duration: One academic year excluding summer sessions. Renewable for three academic years with maintenance of cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher and completion of 12 or more credit hours during each of the prior fall and spring semesters.

Music, Theatre Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be an entering freshman; must be a music or theatre major; must show excellence in performance, potential, talent or aptitude in the arts as demonstrated by audition, interview or portfolio of work; must submit letters of reference from former and present instructors.

CINSAM Scholarship
Eligibility: First-time freshmen must have an ACT score of 25 or higher or SAT of 1130 or higher: must rank in the top 25% of their graduating class: must be a math or science major. Continuing students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a minumum GPA in their major of 3.0.

Commonwealth Excellence Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be admitted to NKU as a degree-seeking first-time freshman; must have an ACT score of 24 or higher or SAT of 1090 or higher and a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Educational Diversity Housing Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.. Must be an entering freshman with a GPA of 2.75 or better.Must have evidence of academic achievements or academic promise such as transcripts, references, or ACT scores. Student must be able to demonstrate the ability to enhance the multicultural, socioeconomic, etc. atmosphere on campus. Applicants must adhere to all university policies and regulations related to university residence halls.
Amount: Full room rental fee for Kentucky or Commonwealth Hall and the 19 meals per week meal plan coverage. Recipients are responsible for the damage deposit.

Educational Diversity Tuition Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. Must be an entering freshman with a GPA of 2.75 or better. Kentucky Governor's Scholars Scholarship
Eligibility: Must have participated in the Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program or the Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts. Must have an ACT composite score of 24 or higher or SAT of 1090 or higher. Must be a degree-seeking student.
Amount: Full in-state tuition.
Duration: One academic year, renewable for one academic year with the maintenance of a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher; must have earned 12 or more credit hours each semester during the prior academic year. After earning 24 credit hours, it is renewable for two academic years with maintenance of cumulative GPA of 3.25 and must have earned 12 credit hours each semester of the prior academic year.

NKU Excellence Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be first-time freshman with a high school grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and an ACT score of 24 or higher or SAT of 1090 or higher. Must be a full-time degree seeking student.

NKU Informatics Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be a first-time freshman with a high school grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and an ACT score of 26 or higher or SAT of 1170 or higher. Must declare and maintain a major in the College of Informatics in the areas of Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Business Informatics or Media Informatics. Must meet NKU''s regular admissions requirements.

Eligibility: Must be a first-time freshman with a high school grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and an ACT score of 26 or higher or SAT of 1170 or higher. Must declare and maintain a major in Math or Science. Must meet NKU's regular admissions requirements.

Northern Kentucky University Distinguished Scholarship
Eligibility: First-time freshmen who have an ACT composite score of 29 or higher or SAT of 1280 or higher, demonstrated leadership ability and a concern for their community will be considered for this scholarship.

Duration: One academic year, renewable for 3 additional years with the maintenance of a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher and must have earned 12 or more credit hours each semester, excluding summer sessions.

Part-time Student Award
Eligibility: Must be a degree-seeking first-time freshman with an ACT composite score of 20 or higher. Must be enrolled only part-time.

Presidential Scholarship
Eligibility: First-time freshmen who have an ACT composite score of 26 or higher or SAT of 1170 or higher will be considered for tuition; two tuition awards given to outstanding graduates of Maysville Community College and one tuition award given to an outstanding graduate of each of the remaining Kentucky Community College Branches of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System with a minimum GPA of 3.25.

Project SOAR Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be a KY resident who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have a mathematics ACT score of 23 or higher, submit an additional letter from a teacher in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline, and file the FAFSA form. Must declare and maintain a major in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics, Physics/Geology/Pre-Engineering. Must meet NKU's regular admissions requirements.
Amount: Up to $6,000 per academic year based on financial need.
Duration: One academic year, renewable for 3 additional years. Additionally, SOAR Scholars must (1) maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 2.5 or higher; (2) earn a minimum of 24 credit hours in the previous academic year; (3) be enrolled full-time as a major in a Project SOAR STEM discipline; (4) show continuing financial need as determined by FAFSA; (5) adhere to program requirements; and (6) make satisfactory progress toward their STEM degree.

Art, Music, Theatre Scholarship

Dean's Scholarship
Eligibility: Must have completed 60 credit hours, of which 30 hours must have been completed at NKU; must have a declared major with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.

KCTCS Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be first-time NKU student transfering from a Kentucky Community Technical College, must be academically eligible to return to the institution previously attended and have earned a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, and be a resident of Kentucky.

Kentucky Foster and Adopted Children Tuition Waiver
Eligibility: Must be a degree-seeking student and maintain satisfactory progress. Must be currently placed in foster care or was in foster care prior to being adopted; or was in the custody of the Cabinet for Families and Children or the Department of Juvenile Justice on his/her 18th birthday. Student must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Student must enter school no later than four years after the date of graduation from high school.

Eligibility: Must be a first-time freshman and a graduate of Bellevue High School, Bellevue, KY with a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Joyce Yeager Scholarship Fund for Tennis
Eligibility: Must be a full-time NKU student; preference will be given to a Kentucky resident. Student must participate in either the men's or women's tennis program at NKU. Student must meet NKU and NCAA academic eligibility requirements.
